Almost #readyforWYD

Hello again! It's been a few years since I've blogged here, but I want to share my pilgrimage to World Youth Day in Poland with you. We leave from DC next Thursday and there are so many things to get done before then! So of course, instead of doing anything productive, I procrastinate.

Last night, I was checking packing lists from many different churches and WYD travelers again. I knew that pilgrims traded items from their home state/country, but I didn't realize how many things people traded. One blogger I read said by the time he was walking to the Vigil Saturday night, he only had about 20 of the over 200 stickers and pins that he had brought to trade.

I have ten Maryland buttons.

Which is wonderful and I am grateful for them, but now I knew I was going to need something more. I love the idea of buttons with a blue crab on them, but with my limited time table shipping was going to cost more then the buttons. So I searched for something different. One 16 year old, postcard collecting pilgrim had custom made postcards with her contact information so she could keep in touch with other pilgrims and build a greater collection.

This caught my eye for two reasons.
1 - I could make an awesome post card and print/cut them from home. (No shipping fees!)
2 - When I was younger, I had binders full of postcards from places I visited.

This is a project I can get behind.

Thanks to free stock photo and a word cloud generator I created this:

And I kind of love it. It's full of names, places, and phrases that have ties to Maryland. So much fun to create. Let me know in the comments if you have a word I should add to my crabby could.

Stay tuned for more WYD news coming soon!

With much gratitude,
Sarah
